Traditionally, mirrors have a functional use, which makes them an integral part of our daily lives. Yet mirrors have aesthetic value too. They reflect light, enlarge small rooms, brighten up dark corners and reflect beautiful objects and captivating scenery. One way to 'widen' a room is to fit a vertical ceiling-to-floor mirror adjacent and at right angles to a window. This creates the illusion of a wider room and reflects the window, projecting more light into a room.

Narrow corridors and rooms can be made to seem wider by placing mirrors on the larger walls. This creates the illusion that the room is double its real width. Similarly, mirrors placed opposite each other create the illusion of infinity. A room can be made larger and wider by placing mirror panels in the corners of the room. Mirrors can also create the illusion of depth, liven up dull expanses of walls, and draw attention to objects in a room.
